  • Accessing Library Resources at Home

  • To log into HeritageQuest Online, Newsbank, or the Gale databases, please type "fpl" followed by your 4-digit patron number when prompted. If you don't have a 4 digit patron number, come by the library and we'll issue you one. If you have any questions, please call the library at (573) 756-5779.
  • Gale Resources - access many databases for general interest, business, medical, or academic research, including:
    • Academic OneFile:

      • Scholarly collection providing full-text journal coverage for nearly all academic areas of study.
    • Discovering Collection:

      • Thousands of overview essays, critical analyses, biographies, primary sources, creative works and multimedia elements make it easy for students to research papers and class assignments in five core subject areas: history, literature, biography, science and social studies.
    • General OneFile:

      • Comprehensive general interest resource providing periodical and news information. Also includes Fodor travel guides, NPR programs and more than 20 reference sets on a wide range of topics.
    • Health & Wellness Resource Center:

      • Specialized reference tool that offers a vast collection of medical information including streaming videos from medical experts and access to many encyclopedias including Clinical Reference Systems, PDR guides and much more. Includes Alternative Health module which provides a rich collection of books, journals and magazines on alternative and complimentary therapies.
    • Health Reference Center Academic:

      • Integrates the full text of respected nursing, allied health and medical journals; consumer health magazines; newsletters topical overviews; and reference books. It offers more than 2,000 full-text sources and hundreds of videos demonstrating medical procedures and live surgeries.
    • InfoTrac Student Edition:

      • Specifically designed for secondary school students, this database provides age-appropriate and reliable content from magazines, newspapers and reference books to meet student’s curriculum needs. Also includes hundreds of maps and images and the Columbia Encyclopedia. Also search by Lexile reading levels.
    • InfoTrac Junior Edition:

      • Designed for junior high and middle school students, provides access to 300 full-text general interest magazines, thousands of newspaper articles, more than 300 maps and reference books including the Columbia Encyclopedia and World Almanac and Book of Facts and much more. Also search by Lexile reading level.
    • Informe:

      • Created exclusively for Spanish-speaking users, this reference tool provides full-text of popular Hispanic magazines - not just translations.
    • Kids InfoBits:

      • Designed for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. It features a developmentally appropriate and graphic interface, a subject-based topic tree search and full-text, age appropriate, curriculum related magazine and reference content.
    • Small Business Resource Center:

      • Covers areas of starting and operating a business including financing, management, marketing, human resources and franchising. Also includes business journals and a wide selection of sample business plans crated by real-life entrepreneurs.
  • Learning Express Library
    • A service that allows you to sharpen your skills and improve your score with practice tests and self-paced courses. Improve reading, writing, and math skills with instant detailed score reports and answer explanations. You can practice for tests such as the ACT, AP, ASVAB, EMS, GED, SAT, GMAT, U.S. Citizenship, and many others.
    • To log into Learning Express Library, please sign up for an account at the library. You will then be able to use Learning Express Library with the account you created.

    • Access to many resources for genealogy research, including United States Censuses 1790-1930, books, PERSI, Revolutionary War records, Freedman's Bank (1865-1874) for African American research, and the U.S. Serial Set.
