Building Permits

The Development Services Department reviews plans, issues permits, and conducts inspections in accordance with the city’s building codes.

A permit is required to construct a new building; to construct an addition, alter, or change the use of an existing building; and for construction or changes to building systems and appurtenances such as mechanical, electrical, or plumbing.

To apply for a building permit an applicant must:

  • Complete an application. (Click Here)
  • Provide at least two copies of all required plans.
  • Pay all required fees.

Building permits are not required for certain work that is exempted from permits or for work of a minor nature. Please contact the Building Inspector for details.
