How Outdoor Warning Sirens Work
The City of Farmington, along with St Francois County, have outdoor warning sirens that are activated by the St. Francois County 911 Center. The sirens are activated by a system called Rapid Warn, which monitors for warning polygons and uses the latitude / longitude of the polygon to know where to sound the sirens. St Francois County has been using this system since 2022.

Flood Safety
Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm related hazard. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that over half of all flood-related drownings occur when a vehicle is driven into hazardous flood water. Never drive around the barriers blocking a flooded road. It is NEVER safe to drive or walk into flood waters.
